Andrea Gemma is Professor of Institutions of Private Law at University of Rome Tre Law School.

He serves as a member of the Strategic Board of the American University of Rome, of the Scientific Committee of the Rome Chamber of Arbitration and has held conferences and seminars for universities, institutions, research centers in Italy and abroad, as well as being the author of numerous monographs, publications, articles and essays published in journals and collective volumes.

He held and covers several corporate offices in important Italian and international companies (inter alia ENI S.p.A., Banca UBAE S.p.A., Sirti S.p.A., Global Capital PLC, Serenissima SGR S.p.A., Sorgente Holding S.p.A.).

He has been a member, upon appointment by the Bank of Italy, of the Bank of Italy’s Financial Banking Arbitrator at the Board of Rome and an Arbitrator with the function of Chairman appointed by the AVCP – Authority for the Supervision of Public Works – at the Public Works Arbitration Chamber.

He was legal implementer of the Prisons Plan on appointment of the Minister of Justice, expert of the working group of the Commission appointed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and chaired by the Minister for European Policies for the implementation of EU regulations, member of the Ministerial Commission at the Ministry of Justice for the reform of bankruptcy law and extraordinary administration procedures. She also served as President of the Commission pursuant to art. 240 of Legislative Decree no. 143/2006 on public infrastructure in relation to the work to upgrade the FS S.p.A. railway intersection in Genoa.

With regard to bankruptcy law and extraordinary administration of large companies, he held offices as Curator and Extraordinary Commissioner in major companies appointed by the public authorities (Valtur S.p.A. in AS; Novit Assicurazioni S.p.A. in lca; Sequoia Partecipazioni S.p.A. in lca; Corit S.p.A. – Unicredit Group and BNL, Sigrec S.p.A. – Unicredit Group), in addition to being appointed for specific legal advisory positions on behalf of appointed Commissioners and Curators.

He graduated with honors from LUISS University in 1997 and obtained an LL.M. from King’s College of London in Banking and Finance. He has been a Registered Lawyer in the Rome Bar since 1999.

He works in Italian, English and French.
